Dewey Blades
Dewey Blades, 79, of 4049 Wagner Rd., Beaverton, died suddenly Sunday, April
23, in the Midland Hospital Center. Born in Livingston County on December 26, 1898, he had lived
in Gladwin County since 1900. Mr. Blades retired in 1964 from Dow Corning and formerly owned and
operated the Dale Store for 12 years. He was a member of the Gladwin County Farm Bureau and was
on the Grange installation team.
Mr. Blades and the former Ruey E. Freeman were married on December 6, 1931, in
Tobacco Township. Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, Donald of Beaverton; 4 daughters,
Mrs. Ruth Maxwell of Hope, Mrs. Norma Maxwell of Freeland, Mary Blades and Mrs. Dawn Virgil of
Midland; one sister, Mrs. Ella Dennison of Lansing; one brother, Earl of Beaverton; 9 grandchildren
and 7 great grandchildren.
Services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. from the Hall Funeral Home, Beaverton
Chapel. The Rev. Vernon Wyllys will officiate and burial will be in the Dale Cemetery.
