Henry Blackmer
Henry D. Blackmer, 65, of 174 Lockwood Dr., Gladwin, died suddenly Wednesday,
July 23, at his home. Born in Ludington Sept. 6, 1920, he came to Gladwin County in 1980. Mr.
Blackmer was a mechanic for the City of Detroit. He was a veteran of World War II and a member
of the Wooden Shoe United Methodist Church. Mr. Blackmer married the former Ruth Martin Feb. 23,
1945. She died May 16, 1984. He then married Dorothy Thomas Nov. 3, 1984, in Gladwin.
Surviving besides his wife, is one brother, Newyton of Detroit. Services were held Saturday at
11 a.m. from the Sisson-Mathews Funeral Home. The Rev. Carter Miller officiated and burial was in
the Highland Cemetery. Graveside services were by Gladwin County VFW Post 73.
