Homer Bixler
Homer “Bill” Bixler, 78, of Gladwin passed away Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2005 at his home. He was born on June 9, 1927 to Corby and Erma Bixler in Weston.
On Sept. 1, 1945 he married Mildred Fox. She preceded him in death on July 12, 1995.
Homer served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1945- 1946. He was employed by the Detroit Water Department for 25 1/2 years, retiring in 1987. He enjoyed watching the birds and other wildlife. He also enjoyed his friendship with his Amish friends and their families. Homer is survived by his two sons, “Mick” Bixler of Detroit and Stephen (Frances) Bixler of Gladwin; one daughter, Donna (Richard) Whipple of Jasper; six sisters, Irene (Dennis) Dowling of Winamac, Indiana, Viola (George) Cochran of Adrian, Ida Baldwin and Margret Butler of Weston, Martha Harris of Sand Creek, and Jean Higley of Jasper; six grandchildren and 14 Great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one son, two brothers and three sisters.
At his request, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
