William Bierd
William L. Bierd, 47, of 316 Van Dyke Rd., Beaverton, died Saturday, Sept. 5,
in St. Mary’s Hospital, Saginaw, after a short illness.
Born in Saginaw Dec. 1, 1939, he moved to Gladwin County in September 1955 from Saginaw. Mr.
Bierd had been a grinder operator for Nodular Foundry in Saginaw since 1969. He served in the
Army from 1962 to 1964 and was a member of UAW Local 668, Saginaw.
Mr. Bierd and the former Darlene Wray were married July 26, 1968, in Pinconning.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, Kelly Benson of Bowie, Md.; one daughter, Paula King of
Detroit; his father, Bill Bierd Sr. of Beaverton; his mother, Jane Bierd of Bay City; one brother,
Jack of Chiefland, Fla.; and 2 sisters, Mrs. Rose Benmark of Toivola and Mrs. Cindy Nix of Beaverton.
Services were held today, Wednesday, at 11 a.m. from the Hall Funeral Home, Gladwin Chapel. The Rev.
Ed Abbott officiated and burial was in the Billings Township Cemetery.
