James Bidwell
James E. Bidwell, Sr., 85, of Beaverton passed away at his home Jan. 18, 2008 following a short illness.
He was born in Big Rapids on May 19, 1922 to Gerald and Marie (Laughery) Bidwell. James married Edythe Agatha French Jan. 5, 1947 in Flint. She preceded him in death in 1989.
He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in World War II. He had lived in Gladwin County for 20 years, previously residing in Gaylord. He had volunteered his time for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
James is survived by two sons, Ted Bidwell of Burton and James Bidwell of Beaverton; six grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two sisters, Frances Sleezer of Tampa, Florida and Diane Donavon of Skidway Lake; and one brother, Billie Bidwell of Texas. He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; two brothers, Chuck and Bob; and a sister, Juanita Dangury.
According to the wishes of the family cremation will take place. Arrangements were made by Hall-Kokotovich Funeral Home in Gladwin.
