Edward Betke
Edward Betke, 94, of 4552 Oberlin Rd., Gladwin, died Friday, Sept. 23, in
Michigan Veterans Facility, Grand Rapids, after a short illness. Born in Pultush, Poland, May
10, 1894, he moved to Detroit in 1910 and to Gladwin County in 1959. Mr. Betke was a tool and
die maker with Murray Body Co. and then with Chrysler Corp. in Detroit. He served in the Army
during World War I and was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Grand Rapids. Mr. Betke and
the former Maried Kutzke were married Apr. 19, 1922, in Oberlin. She preceded him in death May
11, 1969.
Suriving are 2 sons, Ernest of Rochester Hills and the Rev. Norman of St. Ansgar, Iowa; 2
sisters, Mrs. Blandine Dittmann and Mrs. Martha Koberstein of Europe; 8 grandchildren and 9 great
grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Albertina Betke, Helene Rimatzi and Ottilie
Grams.
Services were held Tuesday at 2 p.m. from the Hall Funeral Home, Gladwin Chapel with the Rev.
Frank Graves officiating. Military graveside services was held by the Gladwin County VFW Post 7303
in the Highland Cemetery.
