Melivin Bellinger
MELVIN BELLINGER IS BURIED IN RIDGE
Melvin W. Bellinger was born in Gladwin township on March 9, 1880 the son of Mr.
and Mrs. John Bellinger and passed away at his home on June 11, at the age of 67 years. ON January
10, 1904 he was married to Fannie L. Nickless. There were four children, Mrs. Helen Ogg, of Sage
township, Mrs. Lucille Swinehart and MRs. Marian Mowrey, of Midland, and John of Gladwin township.
In 1909 Mr. Bellinger bought and settled on a farm, where he lived for 38 years, with
the exception of 10 years, when the family lived in Gladwin city, due to his ill health. During this
period Mr. Bellinger built roads in Otsego, Iosco, and Chippewa counties. He was an enthusiastic woodsman.
His recreation was hunting and fishing.
Surviving besides his wife and children are eight grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs.
Lottie Koontz and Mrs. Esel Wagar of Gladwin and one brother, George, of Burney, California, who spent
the last two weeks with his brother. Fraternally he was a Gleaner and Mason. He was buried in the Ridge
cemetery, with six of his nephews acting as pallbearers.
