Mae E. Behnke
Mrs. Mae E. Behnke, 79, of 110 Martin St., Gladwin, died Saturday, April 30,
in the Standish Community Hospital, after a short illness. Born in Mt. Carmel, Ill., Feb. 13,
1909, she had spent most of her life in Gladwin County. She was a member of the Gladwin O.E.S.
White Clover Chapter 84 and an avid golfer and bowler. The former Mae Kimball, she was married
to Clarence Behnke June 16, 1929, in Gladwin. Besides her husband, she is survived by 2 sons,
Richard of Gladwin and Donald of Redford; 3 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and 2 great
great grandchildren. A brother, A.D. Kimball and 2 sisters, Henrietta Converse and Louise Nash,
preceded her in death.
Services were held today, Wednesday, at 1 p.m. from the Hall Funeral Home, Gladwin Chapel. The Rev.
Joel Hurley officiated and burial was in the Highland Cemetery Masoleum. An O.E.S. Memorial service
was held Tuesday at 8 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Masonic Temple Contingency Fund.
