Katie Behnke
RITES TODAY FOR MRS. KATIE BEHNKE
Mrs. Katie Behnke, 90, formerly of Gladwin, died Sunday night at the home
of her daughter, Mrs. Lee Hall, in Mt. Pleasant, following two years of illness. The former
Katie Schutte was born on May 15, 1871, in Melrose Park, Ill., and was married to Frank Behnke
there on Sept. 21, 1891. She was a member of the Lutheran Church. Mr. Behnke preceded her in
death on Feb. 19, 1936.
Surviving are eight sons, Otto, William, August and Clarence, of Gladwin,
George, Edwin, Henry and Alvin, of Durand; two daughters, Mrs. Ella Hall, of Mt. Pleasant,
and Mrs. Milly Keyworth, of Phoenix, Ariz; 29 grandchildren, 49 great grandchildren and one
great great grandchild. Funeral services will be held today (Wednesday) at 2 p.m. at St. Paul's
Lutheran Church. The Rev. Frederick Coellner will officiated and burial is in Highland Cemetery.
