Ida Behnke
Mrs. Ida Behnke, 79, of Gladwin, died Thursday, Feb. 28, at the Gladwin Area Hospital. The
former Ida Lange, she was born in New York City on Sept. 11, 1894 and came to Gladwin County
at the age of 5. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church. She was married to William
Behnke on June 6, 1915, in Clare.
Besides her husband, she is survived by two sons, Carl of Gladwin and Lawrence of Flint; two
daughters, Mrs. Helen Merrill of Mt. Pleasant and Mrs. Clara Hysell of Gladwin; one sister,
Mrs. Elizabeth Johnson of Bay City; one brother Paul Lange of Battle Creek; 13 grandchildren.
One son, Wilbur, preceded her in death on Jan. 2, 1941. Rites were held Sunday, March 3, at 2
p.m. from the Mathews Funeral Home. The Rev. Carl Lindberg officiated and burial was in the
Highland Cemetery.
