Gladwin County Obituary/Death Notice
 
Henry Behnke

   Henry F. Behnke, 82, of 930 N. State St., Gladwin, died Wednesday morning, Aug. 31, in Bay City, after a long illness. Born in Elmhurst, Ill., on May 5, 1901, he lived in Wyoming for several years where he worked on the Grand Cooley Dam and in the shipyards. He also lived in Alaska where he was a commercial fisherman and in Durand where he worked for Simplicity Engineering. Mr. Behnke moved to Gladwin in 1950. He was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church. Mr. Behnke and the former Josephine Woltman, were married May 30, 1952, in Angola, Ind.

   Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, James of Renton, Wash.; 2 step-sons, Jack and Richard Woltman of Jackson; one step-daughter, Mrs. T. K. (Bettie) Jones of Essexville; 3 brothers, Clarence and August of Gladwin and Edwin of Durand; one sister, Mrs. Millie Keyworth of Michigan City, Ind., 17 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Services were held Friday at 11 a.m. from Our Savior Lutheran Church. The Rev. Edward Krauss officiated and burial was in the Highland Cemetery. Arrangements were in charge of the Mathews Funeral Home.
