RITES TODAY FOR LIFE-LONG COUNTY RESIDENT; BURIAL IN
HOMER CEMETERY
Frank Barton, 79, life-long resident of Midland
county, died suddenly of a heart attack Monday at his
home at 306 West Larkin Street. He was one of the Well
Known characters of Midland, having started to work in
the lumber woods in this region when he was 19 years
old. He owned several farms in the county at various
times and had Property in what is now the Greendale
Oil fields. Mr. Barton was an experienced Woodsman and
Outdoor lover. He was credited with knowing as much
about fishing and hunting as any man in these parts
and loved these sports above all others.
He was born March 8, 1855, in Homer township and
was married to Mary M. Carrow there November 16, 1882.
He is survived by his wife and one daughter, Mrs.
Arthur Beden. There are also a brother, Fred Barton,
city, and several sisters, Mrs. Hattie Arrance of
Prince Albert, Canada, Mrs. Mary Smith of Durand, Mrs.
George Smith of Durand, Mrs. Emma McCall of Midland,
Mrs. Julia Powers of Flint, Mrs. Jessie Collins of
Weberville, and Mrs. Flora LaMee of Gordonville.
Funeral services will be held this afternoon at
2:00 p.m. from the Wilson Funeral Home with Rev. W. J.
Dudgeon officiating and burial in the Homer cemetery.
