John J. Barath
John J. Barath, 74, of Gladwin, died Wednesday, Aug. 30, 1995 at MidMichigan
Regional Medical Center following a 3-year illness. Born June 25, 1921 in Pennsylvania, he resided
in Gladwin for 15 years since moving from Rochester. Mr. Barath had been employed by General Motors
and retired in 1980. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in West Branch. Mr. Barath married
the former Vera Badovinac Sept. 14, 1946 in Detroit.
Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, James and wife Barbara of Colorado; 2 daughters,
Patricia and husband William Daniels of Mt. Pleasant, and Marie Castle of Connecticut; 3 sisters,
Margaret Valgora of Pennslyvania, Elizabeth Tzareff of Westland, and Ann Brady of Pennslyvania; 4
grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother, Louis in 1959.
Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday from the Sacred Heart Church in Gladwin with the Rev.
Father Julius Spleet officiating. Burial was in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Gladwin. Arrangements were
handled by the Hall Funeral Home.
