Oral Bancroft
Oral L. Bancroft, 53, 3734 Whispering Pines Dr., Gladwin, died Saturday,
Nov. 21, at his home. Born in Flint on November 23, 1927, he came to Gladwin County in May,
1974. Mr. Bancroft joined the Army in 1945 and served 20 years in the Signal Corps and Security.
He was discharged in October, 1967. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a
lifetime member of the D.A.V., Goodrich SKDMR No. 122. Mr. Bancroft was married to the former
Lois Bailey Weidman October 5, 1956 in Ashbury Park, N.J.
Besides his wife, he is survived by 2 sisters, Mrs. Thelma Matthews of Flint and Mrs. Marion
Meil of Gladwin; and one brother, LaVern of Tawas. Rites were held Tuesday at 9 a.m. from the
Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The Rev. Father Joseph Castanier officiated and cremation was in
Flint Memorial Park. A wake in Flint Memorial Park. A wake service was held Monday at 8 p.m. at
the Mathews Funeral Home.
