Paul R. Averill
Paul R. Averill, 75, of Gladwin, died Thursday, July 16, 1998 at the MidMichigan
Medical Center-Midland. Born April 16, 1923 in St. Paul, Minn., he was the son of Otis and Leah Lamb
Averill. He served his country during World War II in the Army. Paul married the former Isabel Louise
Marsh, Feb. 8, 1947 in Muskegon. She preceded him in death Feb. 19, 1998. They came to Gladwin in
1967. Paul belonged to the American Legion Post 171, The American Legion Post 171, The Harrison Squares,
and The Honey Bee Stingers.
Surviving are four sons, David and wife Colleen of Blythe, Calif., Thomas and wife Susan of Ferndale,
Gene of Luther, and Paul Curtis of Findley, Ohio; one stepdaughter, Doris Harmon of Troy; two brothers,
Phil and Otis, both of Muskegon; one sister, Mamie Marsh of Muskegon; 12 grandchildren; and eight
great-grandchildren.
Services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Sisson Funeral Home in Gladwin with Joseph White
officiating. Burial was in Skeels Cemetery.
