Gladwin County Obituary/Death Notice
 
Daisy AtLee

   Daisy Megan AtLee of Roanoke, Virginia, formerly of Briny Breezes, Florida and Gladwin, Michigan, 83, died at South Roanoke Nursing Home Saturday, Jan. 12, 2008 after a long battle with cancer.

   She was born Aug. 28, 1924 in Pinckney, Michigan the daughter of William Herman and Alta Mae (Bullis) Meyer. Megan grew up in Pinckney, where she excelled in academics. Nov. 6, 1942 she married her childhood sweetheart, Cyrus York AtLee, who preceded her in death on July 5, 1993.

   Cy and Megan took their children on a three month trip around the world in 1963 which provided many stories of adventures and spent many years in retirement traveling in Texas and Florida. Megan also took her mother on a trip to Israel.

   Megan enjoyed being with her children as they were growing up and was especially happy to have times with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She spent many years assisting her husband with office work in his job as prosecuting attorney and was active in promoting the improvement of mental health services in the area. Her hobbies included traveling, music, theater and painting.

   She loved painting portraits and painted one of every family member. She also taught painting classes at the retirement home in Roanoke where she lived.

   Survivors include one daughter, Susan Terry (AtLee) Daugherty; one son, Cyrus David (Rowena) AtLee of Chelsea; and one son-inlaw, Paul Theilig of Marble Falls, Texas; seven grandchildren, Michael Milian, Jennifer and Patrick Daugherty, Brian, Aaron, Jason, and Sarah AtLee; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Willa Lamb of Ann Arbor; two brothers, Jim (Elga) Meyer of Howell and Garth (Pat) Meyer of Roscommon; and many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, Megan was preceded in death by two daughters, Mary AtLee and Kathleen Theilig; one great-granddaughter, Tatum Baillie- AtLee; and two brothers; Bill Meyer and Marc Meyer.

   Arrangements were handled by Sisson Funeral Home in Gladwin, Michigan. Visitation is Thursday, Jan. 17 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Sisson Funeral Home with a funeral service Friday, Jan. 18 at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Highland Cemetery in Gladwin.

   In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Community Mental Health Services for Central Michigan.
