Perry Arnold

FORMER MINISTER PASSES AWAY

   Perry A. Arnold, 84, of Beaverton, passed away at the home of his son, Calvin, in Clare, on Monday, February 28. Funeral services will be held at the Brethren Church of the Brethren on Thursday afternoon at 1:30 with the Rev. Ernest Jehnsen officiating. Burial will be in River Lawn cemetery, Isabella county. He will be at the Hall Funeral Home until 1 o'clock on Thursday.

   Mr. Perry was born in Preston county, West Virginia, on November 17, 1864, the son of John S. and Susan S. Arnold. He was married there to Miss Marian Fike on August 5, 1888. There were five children, Calvin B. of Clare, Bessie E. Stiles of Fredericksburg, Va., Albert B. of Coleman, Effie E. Sowle of Eaton Rapids and Perley L. of Albion.

   He became affiliated with the church in 1889, and moved from West Virginia to Lenawee county, Michigan in 1892. He was called too the ministry by the Fairview congregation in 1895. The family moved to Isabella county in 1900 and Mr. Arnold was ordained to the full ministry in 1911. In April 1914 he became pastor of the Beaverton church of the Brethren where he served for a number of years.

   Mrs. Arnold passed away on September 24, 1905. He was married to Sarah Schrider May 22, 1907, who died on August 28, 1947. Following her death Mr. Arnold moved to Clare to make his home with his son.
