Gladwin County Obituary/Death Notice
 
Henry Ammon

   Henry Ammon departed this life Aug. 6, 1903, at 5:30 a.m., aged 68 years, 9 months and 10 days. Deceased was born in Holmes county, O. He enlisted in Co. C of the 67th regiment and served three years in the Civil War. After the war he united in marriage to Rachael Crosker, and three sons were born to the union, Clell, of the upper peuinsula, and Lon and Will, of Sage, Gladwin county, who were with him at his death. His first wife died in 1883, and in 1884 he married Amelia Huston. To this union wasborn one son, Barnie, who died at the age of 12 years. His second wife died at Port Huron five years ago. Since her death he spent the most of his time in Ohio, at the Michigan soldiers' home at Grand Rapids, and of the late with his son Lon, at whose residence he died. He was patient sufferer from the effects of rheumatism, which made him helpless. He was highly esteemed. Besides his sons, a sister, Mrs. Mary Croskey, of Ohio, mourn his loss. The body was laid to rest in Highlan d cemetery Aug. 7. Funeral service were conducted by Rev. O. F. Bulman.

   "Dearest father, how we miss you From around our circle here, But we know that thou art circled In the Saviour's home with care.

   "Jesus took you from among us, For what reason we know not; But we know that we shall meet thee In a home to part no more."
