Wilbert Allen
LONG ILLNESS FATAL TO WILBERT ALLEN
Wilbert E. Allen, 73, of Butman Township, died at his home Sunday, Jan. 31, after a long
illness. Born in Paulding County, Ohio, on March 5, 1897, he had lived in Gladwin County since
1902. He was married to the former Viola Edwards on March 26, 1923, in Detroit.
Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons, Bill, of Emmett, Robert, of Sarasota, Fla.
and Max, of Bay City; two daughters, Mrs. Virginia Pero and Mrs. Kathryn Wright, of Flint; two
sisters, Mrs. Mary Grove, of Beaverton and Mrs. Murtie Cripps, of Gladwin; one brother, Carl,
of Wisconsin; 14 grandchildren; 5 step-children and 9 step-grandchildren.
Rites were held today, Wednesday, at 2 p.m. from the Hall Funeral Home in Gladwin. The Rev.
Charles Allen officiated and burial was in the Highland Cemetery.
